John Oh

What eventually evolved into a career began as a part-time teaching gig while John was studying to be a screenwriter at Columbia University. And as John likes to facetiously say, “Since nobody bought anything that I wrote, I just continued to teach.” Before joining Study Smart Tutors, John was entrenched in the test-preparation industry for almost 20 years, having worked as either a director, trainer, teacher, or writer for several test-preparation companies (he even started his own company).

His unique experiences have afforded John opportunities to work with students, parents, and teachers from many arenas: boarding schools, charter schools, international schools, private schools, the public schools of NYC, and nonprofits like Teach For America and the YMCA. He has taught single students in their living rooms and hundreds of students in auditoriums and gymnasiums.

Over the years John has helped many students on many tests (ACT, CPT, ISEE, NYS REGENTS, SAT, SHSAT, SSAT, TOEFL). And now he will continue that assistance in his new role here at Study Smart Tutors!
