Heath is an experienced education leader with 25 years of involvement in educational equity initiatives, including roles as a teacher, university administrator, policy advocate, and business development executive in the EdTech and FinTech sectors.

Heath holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Chemistry and a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Leadership. His career in the TRIO community spans 34 years, beginning with his experience as a TRIO Talent Search student in high school. He began working with TRIO as an undergraduate student tutor-counselor for Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math & Science, he later served as Coordinator, Teacher, and Associate Director for eight years. During his time with TRIO, Heath also served as President of the Michigan TRIO Association in 2006 and as Legislation and Education Chair for the MAEOPP regional board. He is a graduate of both the Emerging Leaders and CAS Training Institutes.

Now, as the Senior Director of Grants and Program Evaluation at Study Smart Tutors, Heath specializes in grant writing, particularly federal grants, grant management, and compliance evaluation and training. He is also experienced in teacher training and frequently presents on various topics related to educational program development and evaluation. Heath’s expertise in program evaluation and grant management continues to drive impactful initiatives that promote educational equity and success.
