Sherla is the daughter of immigrants and a first-generation college student. She graduated with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in business from Stephen F. Austin State University. She also has a Master’s in Educational Leadership from St. Thomas University. During her classroom career, she taught middle school and high school mathematics at Title 1 schools in Texas. Sherla has also worked as a mathematics curriculum specialist and education consultant to underprivileged youth and community in Los Angeles surrounding areas. She has a passion for helping students of all backgrounds and demographics. When Sherla is not working, she enjoys traveling to the Caribbean, practicing yoga, and spending time with her husband and Yorkie, Honey.
