Alexis Gathers

Alexis is excited to join Study Smart Tutors as a Site Support Assistant in the DMV area. She grew up in Maryland and attended Hampton University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biology.

Alexis has always been passionate about education since the day she started helping her mom teach children in her daycare during high school. She enjoyed watching the way the children’s’ faces lit up when they discovered something new. This later led her to co-own a homeschool business within her community in Maryland. She wanted to meet the needs of parents who wanted a better opportunity for their children. She homeschooled children ranging from pre-k through high school for twelve years. During her time as a teacher, her students taught her how to bring out her inner child.

When she is not working, Alexis enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys. She also loves spending time with friends and relaxing in her sunroom gazing out the window.
