How Study Smart Tutors Can Benefit You

Increase College Acceptance Rates

Colleges use test scores to make admissions decisions. In fact, nearly all four-year colleges in the U.S. – and many two-year colleges – require test scores as part of the admissions application. And while test scores are one of many factors used to determine a candidate’s fit for admission, they can be the deciding factor for students on the threshold in other admissions categories.

Students who register for college admissions tests have the opportunity to hear from colleges who are interested in their unique applicant profiles. And for low-income, first-generation college bound students, accessing test prep resources and instruction significantly increases access to opportunity.

Qualify Students for Scholarships

Scholarships help students pay for college, with no requirement to pay back the funding (as is the case for student loans). Many college scholarships use admissions test scores – either alone or in combination with other factors – to determine scholarship eligibility. The higher a student scores on the PSAT, SAT, or ACT, the more likely she is to receive scholarship funding.

Many schools offer Automatic Scholarships based on SAT/ACT scores, often without any supplemental application information required. Additionally, high school students who take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) are entered into the National Merit Scholarship Program and are eligible for one of three types of National Merit Scholarships: the $2,500 National Merit Scholarship, corporate-sponsored scholarships, college-sponsored scholarships.

Prove Your Program’s Efficiency

College access and outreach programs are required to evaluate and provide data-driven student outcomes. Study Smart Tutors’ diagnostic exam and scoring services provide robust outcomes data for programs to use internally and to include in reports to funders. By demonstrating improvements in their students’ test scores, programs can provide a sound rationale for their college access services.
